I’m sorry to say, Stravinsky is not one of my favorite composers. In general 20th century classical music is just a bit too much for me – I prefer baroque and classical periods, and definitely some early to mid romantic. But I admit, I absolutely love listening to just about any music conducted by the composer. That’s how the piece is really *supposed* to sound.

It’s amazing to me the wonderful recordings you can find on youtube. I’ve almost decided it’s not worth buying my own music collection. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m taking CD’s off my amazon wish list. If others wish to buy great recordings for me, I’m not going to be the one to stop them. 😉

Stravinsky was a genius! Firebird has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Interesting that he takes this piece a bit slower than most others I’ve heard. (I guess he should know the right speed!) Also at the end, the staccato style of the chords is rather unusual!
